DEMENTIA SPORTS CAFE
Email NowDementia is a term used to describe a range of cognitive and behavioural symptoms that can include memory loss problems with reasoning and communication and change in personality and reduction in a person’s ability to carry out daily activities. Dementia is a progressive condition which means that the symptoms will gradually get worse.
According to Healthwatch Worcestershire (within their report of engagement, July 2024) Worcestershire has a higher-than-average older population and as such dementia presents a significant challenge for the health and care system locally and its communities the number of people with dementia in Worcestershire is set to increase to 11,257 by 2028 and 14,382 by 2038. The largest increase will be in those aged 85 plus who are more likely to have increased care needs.
