WALKING SPORTS

Email Now

Walking sports teams are becoming very popular across the UK. As people get older and less physically able walking sport is a great way to maintain a level of participation whilst having lots of fun with similar-minded people. There is no high impact or strenuous activity that standard versions of the same game require.

Most of the sports have the same rules as standard versions only rather than running to get the ball or to get to the next base you walk. The most important rule of walking sport is that one foot must always be on the ground.

MODERATE EXERCISE

Many teams include some kind of penalty for participants who run instead of walk, to avoid some players running and thereby making the game faster than it should be. Other than that, it is pretty much the same.

The great thing about this type of sport is that it’s open to all – men and women can play alongside each other, less physically abled individuals can also join in, and everyone will benefit from getting moderate exercise in a social setting.

Participants take part in fun and engaging sport sessions and those who wish to play Rugby train weekly and participate in regular fixtures against other clubs.

Our Inclusion programme’s main objectives are to raise confidence, give people an opportunity to take part in sport in a safe environment and meet new people in a positive social environment.
